1994
A story of love and handmade quality is born.
When chemical engineer Natanael Carli Bonicontro was still in college, he had the opportunity to produce cachaça for the first time in a class in the biochemical engineering laboratory. It was love at first sight. The quality of the cachaça produced surprised him and motivated him to improve in the art of producing such a tasty drink.
In 1994, he began his journey designing and building his own creation device, designed exclusively for the production of Cachaça Companheira. The choice of name, by the way, deserves a special mention: it was inspired by the joão-de-barro, a bird that spends its whole life next to a single companion. Jandaia do Sul, in the north of Paraná, in the Vale do Rio Ivaí, was the place chosen for the construction of the alembic because it has good quality land and a favorable climate for the cultivation of sugarcane. For the production of Cachaça Companheira, a specific variety of sugarcane was chosen, which has a high sugar content and must be harvested exclusively in winter. From the planting project to harvesting, all stages go through research and meticulous work, resulting in careful manual pruning.
